july 2008 Armed Robbers Jailed in UK Three men were sentenced to jail for 12, 9 and 7 years in a conspiracy to rob case. They were involved in stealing mainly designer watches. The lead defendant who got 12 years jumped bail during the trial, and was sentenced in his absence. Robbery raids were carried out in nine stores across the UK between November 2005 and May 2007. Others were involved but not caught. £1-1.5 million worth of jewelry was stolen, but only about £70,000 was recovered. Thief Smashes Jewelry Shop in Broad Daylight A thief blatantly smashed the window of an Ernest Jones shop in full view of shoppers in Southend, UK, grabbed designer watches, ran off and fled in a getaway car. The incident took place at 4 p.m. Police moved into action pretty swiftly and the car was stopped on the highway. The suspect was arrested. A suspected accomplice was also located and arrested in a back garden near the scene of the crime. No doubt designer watches are in great demand! |
